jUCMNav Deployment

Basics: Preparing Eclipse and installing jUCMNav

  • Install Eclipse for RCP/Plug-in Developers
    • This version of Eclipse includes the mandatory GEF and EMF & SDO plug-ins. If the version of Eclipse you have installed does not include GEF or EMF, please install these plug-ins seperately following the instructions on the Eclipse website.
  • If you are interested in using the KPI monitoring functionality, install the web tools platform (WTP) plug-in.
  • If you are interested in the auto-layout capabilities, install Graphviz Dot

Installing jUCMNav

  • Should you have installed jUCMNav v2.0, please uninstall it first. Eclipse doesn't automatically upgrade from jUCMNav v2.0 to jUCMNav 3.0, it only offers minor revisions.
  • Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install -> Search for new features to install
  • Click on New Remote Site
  • Select the checkbox next to jUCMNav in the update site list and click finish.
  • Select the latest version and install all.
  • Restart Eclipse when prompted.

Testing jUCMNav

  • File -> New -> Project
  • General -> Project
  • Give your new project a name.
  • Right click on the new project -> New -> Other -> jUCMNav -> Use Case Map / GRL Graph
  • Name your .jucm file and press Finish.
  • The jUCMNav perspective should open and a blank UCM should be shown in the editor.

  • If you can't open the new jucm file you have just created, your Eclipse installation is either corrupt or one of the dependencies has an incorrect version.
  • If you can't find the new jucm wizard, jUCMNav is not installed or is disabled.
    • Window -> Software Updates -> Manage Configuration
    • Click on the show disabled features icon (third from the left)
    • Look at any disabled features. If jUCMNav is there but disabled, you probably forgot to install one of the required dependencies. Eclipse provides error messages that help diagnose these situations.
    • If jUCMNav is simply not there, you probably have not installed jUCMNav yet.

  • If you experience errors while working with jUCMNav, please send us the appropriate error messages from Eclipse's error log.
    • Window -> Show View -> Other -> PDE Runtime -> Error Log
